MALÉ, REPUBLIC OF MALDIVES - 30 NOVEMBER 2012:
On 26 November 2012, the Government of Malaysia and the Government of the Republic of Maldives signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Legal Cooperation Activities (“the MoU”), at the Attorney General’s Office in Malé, the Republic of Maldives.
Malaysia was represented by the Honourable Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, the Attorney General of Malaysia, while Maldives was represented by the Honourable Uza. Aishath Azima Shakoor, the Attorney General of the Republic of Maldives.
The MoU provides for cooperation on areas of common interests which include the exchange of legislations, exchange of experience and best practices, exchange of visits of legal officers for the purpose of participation in mutually agreed training programmes and the establishment of professional contacts between officers of both countries.
The cooperation entailed in the MoU would allow for exchange of experience and best practices through attachment programmes and training particularly in the areas of advisory, drafting and civil litigation.
The MoU came into force on the day of signing and shall remain valid for a period of three years.
The cooperation enumerated in this Agreement will be rendered by and through the respective Attorney General’s offices of both countries.
