International Crime

International Crime

Malaysia recognizes the 4 core “international crimes” that are generally accepted under international criminal law, that is –
  • crimes against peace/crimes of aggression
  • war crimes
  • crimes against humanity
  • genocide.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) established under the Rome Statute defines and grants the ICC jurisdiction over these international crimes although jurisdiction over crimes of aggression remains in abeyance until a generally acceptable definition is agreed upon for that crime.

Malaysia is currently studying the Rome Statute to determine whether Malaysia should become a party to it.
