Introduction |
The Law Revision and Law Reform Division (LRRD) of the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) held its Annual Conference (“the Conference”) at the Crowne Plaza Riverside Kuching Hotel, Sarawak from 4-7 March 2007.

About 50 participants consisting of legal officers and legal assistant from Headquarters, the States and Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia attended the Conference. YBhg Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, the Attorney General (AG) officiated it. In his opening speech, the AG praised the LRRD for its achievements thus far. The AG also reiterated the need for the LRRD’s officers both at Headquarters and the states to continually enhance their knowledge in order to increase job productivity and efficiency.

Programs |
The programs of the Conference included inter alia a “Dialogue Session with AG”. In this session AG once again emphasized on the importance of continuing legal knowledge. He also reminded the senior officers to guide and lead the junior officers. Thereafter, participants participated in a nearly four hour dialogue session with the AG. The Solicitor General was also present.

YBhg Prof. Dato’ Dr. Shaharil bin Talib gave a talk entitled “Back to the Future”. He highlighted on the socio-economic, political and legal history of Malaysia. This talk was intended to show the value of historical evidence in the course of daily legal work. A visit to Sarawak Biodiversity Center was also arranged. The participants also participated actively in a motivational talk conducted by Dr. Ranjit Singh Malhi on “Self-Esteem and Peak performance At Work”. The participants were taught on how they could improve their self-esteem so as to achieve peak performance at work.

Puan Nurul Husni bt. Ab. Rahman presented on the proposed amendment to the Revision of Laws Act 1968 (Act 1). Puan Norhayati bt. Mohd Noor presented on “Development of Self-Potential” and Encik Shahrom bin Idris presented on the functions of Legal Assistant in doing revision work.

A bowling competition was held at the Riverside Super Bowl, Kuching. The first two groups that managed to secure the highest strikes won prizes.

The Conference ended with a closing dinner and the selected theme was “Denim/DenimCowboy Night”. Encik Mat Ghani bin Abdullah won the Best Dresses male award while the Best Dresses female was Cik Nur Dahlia binti Azmi.
