The office of the Legal Advisor for the Ministry of Internal Security situated at Level 6, Block D1, Parcel D, Putrajaya It is directly under the supervision of Prosecution Division, Attorney General's Chamber.

The office of the Legal Advisor is headed by a Legal Officer with the rank of JUSA "C" and assisted by Senior Federal Counsels and Federal Counsels ranking from L52 to L41.

We are committed to deliver the best, efficient, accurate, competent and quality legal services to the Ministry.

By virtue of Article 145(2) Federal Constitution, our general function is to advise the Ministry and its agencies on all legal matters. These functions are reflected in our main tasks as follows :-

i. To attend hearing in High Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Court all over the country in respect of any legal proceeding brought by or against the Ministry;

ii. To draft and redraft contract documents entered by the Ministry with any parties before transmitting the documents to AG Chambers for approval;

iii. To draft and redraft laws, sub laws proposed by the Ministry before transmitting such draft to AG Chambers for approval;

iv. To deliver legal consultations be it in writing or orally to the Ministry upon request;

v. To review the effectiveness of laws which are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry in respect of its development, enforcement and to suggest improvements and inter agencies adjustment from time to time;and

vi. To attend hearing of detenu's representations against the detention order before the Advisory Board on behalf of the Ministry upon request.
