    Objective

     

    1. To ensure investigations relating to any offence committed in the Malaysian Maritime Zone is implemented in accordance with the provisions and procedure of Federal and/or international law.

    2. To ensure effective prosecutions, based on the completion of investigations, in accordance with the provisions and procedure of Federal and/or international law and the interests of justice.

    3. To ensure legal interpretation, advice and research given to the Agency is relevant and of quality without forsaking the interests of the Government and exposing the Government to legal action.

     

    Functions

    1. To plan, formulate, direct, coordinate, monitor and supervise the policy and implementation of investigations and prosecutions at all levels of the MMEA in order to be in accordance with the provisions of Federal and/or international law.

    2. To act as the legal advisor and consultant to the Agency with regard to all legal matters and issues.

    3. To draft, review and interpret all laws concerning the Agency in relation to the Constitution, Acts of Parliament, Regulations, international treaties and other legal documents.

    4. To perform or assist in performing investigations and/or prosecutions with regard to any case which is categorized as sensitive, classified and involves the public interest at any level of the MMEA.
