    Department of Environment

    Objectives

    1. To give advice to the Department in accordance with the Federal Constitution , States Constitution and other laws which ever applicable, and to take into consideration the Government Policy and Public Interest.

    2. To advice the Department, in aspect of international law based on International Law and to take into consideration national interest in respect with Malaysia position in international community , bilateral and multilateral relations.

    3. To draft and amend all laws under the jurisdiction of the Department.

    4. To give instructions in relation to investigations and conduct of prosecution for offences under the Act which is under the supervision of the Department.

    5. To represent and to defend the Government in civil cases involving the Department.

     

    Functions

    1. To give legal advice to Department of Environment in accordance with Federal Constitution and other laws.

    2. To draft and amend laws under the jurisdiction of the Department.

    3. To vet agreements and legal documents under the jurisdiction of the Department.

    4. To peruse the Cabinet’s Memorandum.

    5. To issue sanction on criminal cases under jurisdiction of the Department.

    6. To conduct prosecution in court.

    7. To represent the government in any civil proceedings.

    8. To attend meetings in relation to Department’s matters.

    9. To give lecture upon invitation from the Department.
