Participation of Drafting Division Officers in the International Arena |

YBhg. Datuk Nor Bee binti Ariffin, Parliamentary Draftsman, YBhg. Dato’ Engku Nor Faizah binti Engku Atek, Deputy Parliamentary Draftsman I, Mr. Bhupindar Singh a/ Gurcharan Singh Preet, Ms. Ida Hanani binti Abdul Karim and Ms. Wan Aima Nadzihah binti Wan Sulaiman represented Drafting Division to attend the “3rd Annual Event of the Attorney General’s Chambers of Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia and Singapore” which was held on 23 till 28 April 2008 at the Empire Hotel & Country Club, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. This event was officiated by HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzadin Waddaulah. During the presentation of paper work session, YBhg. Dato’ Engku Nor Faizah binti Engku Atek, Deputy Parliamentary Draftsman I presented a working paper entitled ‘Is Legislation Always the Answer?’ |

Ms. Sarojini Kandasamy , Head of Unit II and Ms. Siti Illyana Mohd Nawi, Assistant Parliamentary Draftsman represented Drafting Division to attend the “Short Course on Maritime Legislative Drafting” which was held on 13 till 21 November 2007 at the International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI), International Maritime Organisation, University of Malta, Malta. The main objective of this course is to give exposure to the paticipants on the background of drafting the maritime related international conventions and the techniques on drafting the convention in the context of domestic laws. |

Mr. Bhupindar Singh a/l Gurcharan Singh Preet, Head of Unit IV represented Drafting Division to attend the “APEC High Level Policy Dialogue on Agricultural Biotechnology Workshop on Liability and Redress under the Biosafety Protocol” which was held on 19 till 21 September 2007 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Among the topics discussed during the Workshop were “Overview/Experience with LMOs and Biodiversity” and “Role of liability and redress in national legal systems”. |

Encik Mohd Azhar bin Mohd Yusoff, Senior Assistant Parliamentary Draftsman and Puan Adlena binti Ab Aziz, Assistant Parliamentary Draftsman represented Drafting Division to attend the Training on “International Legislative Drafting Institute” which was held on 11 till 22 June 2007 at the Georgetown University, Washington D.C, USA. The main objective of this Training is to expose the participants to the techniques of legislative drafting through discussions on various legal issues and exchange of ideas between the participants and the lecturers. |

Puan Mazni binti Nawi, Senior Assistant Parliamentary Draftsman represented Drafting Division to attend the Study Tour On Solid Waste Management To Europe (Denmark, Sweden, Germany and United Kingdom) which was held on 6 till 16 January 2007. The objective of the tour are as follows:
(a) to present the current European strategies on solid waste management with focus on the formulation of the strategies in the legislation;
(b) to expose, upgrade and improve the legal and technical knowledge of the officers involved with that drafting of the Solid waste Management and Public Cleansing Bill; and
(c) to have first hand information on the working of the solid waste management as implemented in those countries form colllection to disposable |
